How to Cancel a Chai Subscription on iPhone, Android or Web
Cancel Chai through the correct web, Apple or Google billing account, confirm renewal stopped, and understand access, refunds and account deletion.
Quick answer
Cancel the Chai subscription through the platform that charged you. For Chai Web, sign in to the correct web account and cancel from account settings; Chai's current FAQ says Pro access continues until the end of the paid billing period. For an iPhone/iPad purchase, use Settings > your Apple Account > Subscriptions > Chai > Cancel Subscription. For Android, open Google Play subscriptions, choose Chai, and cancel.
First check the receipt. Chai's current FAQ says Chai Web and the Chai mobile app are separate platforms with no data sharing between them. A web subscription may therefore be different from an app-store subscription, even when the brand name looks the same. Canceling the wrong product, uninstalling the app, deleting a login, and requesting a refund are not substitutes for stopping the actual recurring billing agreement.
Identify which Chai product and company billed you
Search email for `Chai`, `Apple`, `Google Play`, `receipt`, `invoice`, and the charged amount. Then review the bank or card statement. Use the result to choose the cancellation owner:
| Evidence | Manage renewal here | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Receipt from Chai Web or web payment processor | Chai Web account settings/processor portal | Web and app accounts do not share data |
| Apple receipt | Apple Account Subscriptions | The Chai login email may differ from Apple ID |
| Google Play order | Google Play Subscriptions | Use the Google account on the order |
| No receipt, but card charge exists | Merchant descriptor/card issuer details | Do not guess which Chai service it is |
Avoid similarly named services and search ads. The CHAI mobile app's current privacy notice identifies Chai Research Corp. as the operator. The current Chai Web FAQ also identifies Chai Research, while explaining that Web and App are separate platforms. Use a receipt and official domain/store listing, not a logo alone.
How to cancel Chai Web Pro
Chai's current web FAQ says a subscription can be canceled from account settings and that Pro access remains through the current billing period. Use this sequence:
1. Open the official Chai Web site directly. 2. Sign in with the same Google/account identity used to purchase. 3. Open account settings. 4. Locate subscription or billing management. 5. Choose the cancellation control and complete all confirmation prompts. 6. Record the access-expiration date and save the confirmation email or screenshot.
If account settings redirect to a payment processor, complete cancellation in that authenticated portal. Do not enter card details into a cancellation form reached through an advertisement. If the control is absent, inspect the original receipt for a management link and contact Chai through the official site's support route.
A Web Pro cancellation does not automatically cancel a separate Apple or Google subscription. Check all three channels if you previously used both the website and app.
How to cancel Chai on iPhone or iPad
Apple controls subscriptions purchased through its App Store:
1. Open Settings. 2. Tap your name/Apple Account. 3. Tap Subscriptions. 4. Select Chai. 5. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Apple says that when no Cancel button appears—or a red expiration message is displayed—the subscription is already canceled. Save that screen. If Chai is missing, search email for “receipt from Apple” and check which Apple Account appears on the receipt. A family member must manage a subscription purchased through that family member's account.
Cancel before the renewal time shown by Apple. Apple currently recommends canceling a free or discounted trial at least 24 hours before it ends. The store screen shown to your account is the source of truth for the actual date and regional conditions.
How to cancel Chai on Android
For a Google Play purchase:
1. Open Google Play while signed into the purchasing Google account. 2. Tap the profile icon. 3. Open Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions. 4. Select Chai. 5. Tap Cancel subscription. 6. Follow the confirmation steps and record the expiration date.
Google states that uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription. After cancellation, paid access normally continues for the time already purchased. If the Chai listing is missing, switch between Google accounts and search for the Play order number.
Some Google Play subscriptions use a payment plan. Turning off renewal can prevent a new plan term without canceling installments already committed under the current plan. Read the actual Play subscription terms instead of assuming every billing schedule behaves like a month-to-month purchase.
Chai is not listed in Apple or Google subscriptions
Work through these possibilities:
- You purchased Chai Web rather than the mobile app.
- Another Apple Account or Google account made the purchase.
- A family member purchased it.
- The subscription is already expired or appears under inactive subscriptions.
- The receipt belongs to another app with a similar name.
- A direct processor billed the card under a different merchant descriptor.
Apple advises checking the email receipt and card statement when a subscription cannot be found. Google recommends switching accounts. Match the order ID, amount, date, and seller before contacting anyone.
If you cannot identify the merchant, ask the card issuer for the full descriptor through the phone number on the card. Do not call a “Chai billing support” number from a sponsored result. Once identified, use the seller's authenticated portal or official support.
How to verify Chai renewal is actually off
Look for a durable indicator:
- Chai Web shows an access end date rather than a future renewal;
- Apple shows an expiration message and no Cancel button;
- Google Play shows that the subscription is canceled and lists the access end date;
- a confirmation email identifies the product, account, and effective date.
Continued Pro access does not mean cancellation failed. Chai Web says access remains until the end of the current billing period, and Apple/Google generally permit use through paid time. Focus on whether a future charge is scheduled.
Keep the receipt and cancellation confirmation until at least one renewal date passes. Set a reminder a few days before the date shown, then recheck the same billing account.
If cancellation is attempted close to renewal, record both timestamps and their time zones. Payment processing can begin before a date appears to end in your local time. A confirmation that applies only after the current renewal is different from evidence that the latest charge was invalid. Read the effective date instead of assuming the button press reverses a transaction already processed.
Check for duplicate Chai subscriptions
Because Chai Web and the mobile app are separate, one person can potentially have more than one active billing agreement. Review Chai Web settings, Apple subscriptions, Google Play subscriptions, and recent statements rather than stopping after the first cancellation.
If two charges exist, match each amount and order ID to its product. Cancel both only if that is your intention. Do not report a duplicate charge until you verify whether it represents two independently authorized services. If the same platform charged the identical order twice, preserve both receipts and ask that billing owner to investigate.
Canceling a free trial
Trials can convert automatically unless canceled according to the terms shown at enrollment. Determine whether the trial came from Chai Web, Apple, or Google Play, then use that channel. Cancel as soon as you decide not to continue instead of waiting for the final hour.
After cancellation, read whether access ends immediately or at the scheduled trial end. Trial behavior can differ by store, country, and offer. Do not rely on an old screenshot or a third-party statement about a universal grace period.
Removing the app, signing out, revoking Google/Apple login access, or deleting the Chai profile does not provide the same evidence as a store or processor cancellation confirmation.
Cancellation is not a refund request
Cancellation prevents a future renewal. A refund seeks reversal of a completed payment. Approval depends on the billing platform, purchase timing, region, usage, and applicable terms.
For an Apple purchase, use Apple's official refund/request system. For Google Play, review Google's refund process and the order. For a Chai Web charge, use the support or processor route attached to the purchase. Provide the order ID, date, amount, account, reason, and cancellation evidence without promising yourself a particular outcome.
Do not file a bank dispute merely because access continues after cancellation; continued access through paid time is expected. A chargeback is for genuinely unauthorized or unresolved transactions and can affect account access. First confirm whether the disputed charge occurred before or after the cancellation cutoff.
Cancellation is not account deletion
Stopping a subscription does not delete the Chai profile, conversations, created bots, or personal data. Deleting an account also should not be used as the only method to stop Apple or Google billing.
If you want to leave completely:
1. cancel each active subscription through its billing owner; 2. save confirmation and resolve refunds or billing disputes; 3. preserve any data you are entitled to keep; 4. delete the correct Web and/or App account through their current controls; 5. recheck Apple, Google, and web billing afterward.
The Chai mobile-app privacy notice says account deletion is available through Profile > Settings > Delete Account. It also says some data can be retained for up to five years after deletion and longer where needed for legal claims or compliance. Do not describe account deletion as instantaneous erasure of every record.
Web and App are separate: avoid canceling the wrong account
Chai's FAQ explicitly states that Chai Web Pro and the Chai App are separate platforms with no data sharing. This has several practical consequences:
- a Web conversation or bot may not appear in the app;
- the same-looking login can lead to separate service records;
- canceling Web Pro may leave an App Store/Google Play subscription active;
- deleting one account may not manage the other platform;
- a support report must identify Web or App and the billing channel.
Do not assume a missing app chat proves the subscription disappeared. Locate the receipt and sign into the product named on it. If there are two charges, manage each order separately.
What to send support when cancellation fails
Provide a concise evidence package:
- Chai Web or Chai mobile app;
- billing platform and purchasing account email;
- order/transaction ID;
- amount, currency, charge date, and renewal date;
- screenshot of subscription status;
- cancellation attempt time and exact error;
- whether you can still access the account.
Redact full card numbers, security codes, passwords, login links, and unrelated purchases. The Chai app privacy notice lists `hello@chai.ml` for support, but always confirm the contact on the current official app/site before sending account information.
Frequently asked questions
### Does deleting the Chai app cancel the subscription?
No. Google explicitly says uninstalling does not cancel a Play subscription, and Apple subscriptions remain in the Apple Account until canceled or expired. Use the billing channel.
### Can I keep Pro after canceling Chai?
Chai Web says Pro remains until the end of the current billing period. Apple and Google also generally preserve access through paid time. Check your specific confirmation.
### Why is Chai missing from my subscriptions?
It may be a Chai Web purchase, a different Apple/Google account, a family member's purchase, or already expired. The receipt identifies the seller and account.
### Does canceling Chai delete my chats?
No. Cancellation changes renewal, not account data. Handle account deletion separately after billing is settled.
### Can one cancellation stop both Chai Web and the app?
Do not assume so. Chai says Web and App are separate platforms with no data sharing. Check web billing, Apple, and Google independently.
